About the event
A sweet‑sharp remedy rooted in tradition. Join Charlene, an Herbalist, of Black Woman Plant Chronicles for a hands‑on herbal session where you’ll learn how to craft your own elderberry oxymel — a seasonal staple for cold and flu support. Together, we’ll explore the plants, the practice, and the ritual behind this nourishing preparation, leaving you confident, connected, and ready for the season ahead.
So, what is an Oxymel exactly?
The ancient Greek word oxymeli means “acid and honey,” a nod to its simplest form: an herbal preparation made by combining vinegar and raw honey. Many people use raw apple cider vinegar for its naturally supportive qualities, and when paired with honey, the two create a powerful base for extracting herbs. Together, they draw out and deliver the benefits of plants—especially strong, pungent herbs that can be challenging to take on their own—in a balanced, nourishing way.
All you need will be provided — just bring yourself, your curiosity, and your willingness to learn and share.
Please note, this a fully accessible centre with free parking available.
